Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua has called on security personnel to prioritise service delivery and always work at fighting crime in their areas of jurisdiction.

Speaking at the County headquarters on Wednesday after hosting the incoming County Commisioner Joshua Nkanatha, Mbugua reiterated his desire to have a crime free Nakuru saying his administration was ready to fully support security initiatives.

"Crime keeps away investors and reduces local entrepreneurship levels because people fear being attacked. We don't want that to happen in Nakuru that is why we want the incoming commissioner to prioritise security," he said.

He called on a collective approach to security matters saying it was the small things that people ignore that make them regret later.

"We have police hotlines, suggestion boxes and even social networks that make it even easier to effect communication, alert the relevant authorities if you spot anything suspecious," he advised.

On his part, Nkanatha called for cooperation and public participation further promising to strive keep the county secure and crime free.
