Residents of Mavoko Sub-County have been urged to respect their groups' constitutions in a bid to meet the set objectives.
Addressing members of various self help, youth and women groups in Athi River Town on Tuesday, Mavoko CDF manager, Risper Loisa, said the groups could not effectively meet their objectives if members do not respect group constitutions.
"Let all of the Mavoko residents who are either members of various groups or intend to start new ones know that no initiative can successfully realise its objectives if its members do not respect the group's constitution," said Loisa.
Loisa encouraged leaders of the groups to consider exercising a servant hood kind of leadership as opposed to dictatorial one which makes leaders appear more superior than the ordinary members.
"The chair persons, secretaries, treasurers and other leaders of any kind of group should respect the constitution of the group to the latter and practice servant hood leadership to ensure the groups prosper," said Loisa.
The manager said beneficiaries of all public funds or grants from donors should make good use of the money so that the sub-county can move forward in terms of development.
Loisa said such funds should not be utilised by the members not only to benefit themselves as individuals, but also for the best interest of others in the society.
She said Mavoko CDF was keen on the performance of individual groups and their leaderships strategies and has for a long period of time funded various projects of outstanding groups within the constituency.
