Kisii County Probation Director Oribo Kinyosi has challenged the Gusii community members to reaccept back ex-prisoners into their communities after they have completed their jail terms.
Kinyosi reminded the local community members that after serving their jail sentences, they become reformed and as such nobody should regard them criminals.
Speaking to Hivisasa in his office, Kinyosi observed that residents needed to be hospitable to their sons and daughters who have completed their jail sentences and socially integrate with them as reformed citizens.
"I am reminding local communities that, to be tolerant of ex-prisoners and re-accept them back into their communities as reformed citizens who have opened a new chapter," said Kinyosi.
He however reminded ex-prisoners to report to their local chiefs and their assistants after they have been released to ensure the administrators convene barazas to introduce and welcome them back to their communities as reformed citizens.
He warned local community members against stigmatising ex-prisoners, instead treat them as members of their community who have now been reformed after serving their jail terms.
