Kisii and Nyamira counties have been urged to come with a common plan to empower area youth by organising loans for the young generation.

Speaking on Monday at St. Vincent during an youth entrepreneurship meeting organised by Kisii University, an economist, Dr Stellah Omari said the common plan will enable the counties use minimum available resources to promote growth.

Omari said the idea is long overdue since the counties were to able to support the bulk youthful population independently hence need to forge as one unit.

“Our counties must be sensitive of youth empowerment programs. The population of youth is rising exponentially hence need for the two counties to work as a team. That is the only way they can be able to utilise minimum available resources,” she said.

According to her, the program will enhance internal lending whenever there is a shortage from one of the counties with reasonable time set to repay the money borrowed.

“A single county cannot maximum sustain youth projects when there are other areas that need to be worked upon. Therefore, it I will be possible for lending and borrowing to take place but within the law,” she added.

Her sentiments were supported Lumumba Nyaberi who said the program will ensure equal growth among the youths.

“There is nothing wrong working together as counties. Interrelations are necessary especially when we want to achieve development. I don’t see anything wrong if the two counties comes together to support the youth,” he said.
