Uasin Gishu County government has started the process of automating all the health services in all county hospitals to ensure transparency, accountability and reduce corruption.

Speaking in his office on Thursday, the CeC in charge of ICT and E-government, Barnabas Sang said that the process dubbed E- health is now half way and soon it will be completed.

"The project is fully sponsored by Amref which has already paid 90 percent of the Sh2 billion required for the success of the project and the remaining 10 percent will fully be catered for patients to finally enjoy the benefits," he said.

He said that after its completion, it will enable patients access health records through an online platform from the convenience of their homes on their mobile phones.

"I urge Uasin Gishu Couty residents to embrace ICT since in this era it is the engine to foster conomic growth and a platform to attain the Vision 2030," he said.

The CeC wants the county government to increase the budgetary allocation meant for the ICT department by at least half the amount it was allocated in the 2015-16 financial year.
