More than 300 children were on Wednesday fed by a Hindu Community Group at a children’s home in Athi River Town, Machakos County.
The children drawn from several slums in the town that included City Carton, Kasuitu, Jam City, Kisumu Ndogo and Jua Kali were all assembled and fed at Amrita Children’s Home.
Manish Shah, trustee of the home, said the feeding initiative was a way of giving back to the community given that the Hindu's sympathize with the estates from the region.
"Today, more than 300 children have been well fed in this home, courtesy of the Hindu community, we will continue feeding the children regularly," said Shah.
Shah said majority of individuals who had supported the programme were directors of the many industrial companies within and around Mavoko Sub-County, especially within Athi River town.
He said that the Hindu Community had also trained and secured jobs to hundreds of youth from the region arguing they were committed to giving life to the needy fora better tomorrow.
