Mavoko Sub-County children officer, Faith Kamau, has warned children's homes in the area against exploiting needy children in the name of supporting them.
Addressing journalists in her office in Athi River Town on Wednesday, Kamau said some of the children's homes in the region misuse children in the name of fund raising for their upkeep in the institutions.
"All the children institutions within the sub-county are duly registered according to relevant laws regulating the children department and industry as a whole," said Kamau.
According to Kamau, some of the institutions were flouting the regulations even though they had been inspected and legally approved by the area's children advisory committee to ensure the children were well taken care of.
"Some children homes misuse children in the name of fund raising to support them. This should stop with immediate effect before the law catches up with culprits," said Kamau.
She called on well wishers to visit children's homes and offer necessary support in a bid to provide necessary needs for the needy and vulnerable children in the society.
Kamau urged local leaders from the region to visit the homes and adopt at least a child just as the Deputy President William Ruto, recently did at a home in Machakos Town.
