Health facilities have been urged to embrace Information Technology to improve service delivery and records management and keep up with industry standards.
Speaking in his office on Wednesday, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Director John Kibosia said that the use of ICT enhances transparency and accountability in medical services.
“We have installed an integrated Information System in the hospital that will also a provide platform for students to be exposed and be prepared to a healthcare environment that is rapidly going paperless,” he said
He added that the hospital is striving to provide quality healthcare services in compliance with ISO 9001:200 Quality management systems to which the hospital is certified. He says one way of achieving this is by committing to improve efficiency of services through computerised integrated hospital system.
He also added that the hospital has a Basic life support centre sponsored by the US government whose mandate is to save lives, reduce injuries in cases on emergency.
“We have also trained 150 of our MTRH staff, to have the knowhow of how to deal with emergency and soon the program will rolled out to other hospitals in the county and other counties at large,” Kibosia added.
He urged patients to report any non-performing staff member while assuring them that the facility will respect the rights of every patient to be treated.
