A 23-year-old young man on Thursday told a Kisii court that he uses bhang as a pain killer to relieve his occasional toothache.

Josephat Nyambane was charged with being in possession of two rolls of bhang on June 2 at Mwebe Estate in Kisii County.

The court was told that police had raided his house after a complaint that the accused had stolen a bicycle.

The court further heard that the investigating officers became suspicious of the man due to his red eyes and decided to frisk him. It is then that he found the two rolls of bhang in his trouser pocket.

He admitted to being in possession of the drug before chief magistrate Kepher Simuli. He however denied the second count of stealing a bicycle.

He was released on a cash bail of Sh10,000 until August 10 when the case will be heard.
