Kisumu County lobby groups want the county government to incorporate them in its development plans.

Speaking to this writer on Monday morning at Tom Mboya Labour College, Kisumu lobby group chairperson Elvis Oyieke challenged county government to incorporate the youths in its development plans.

According to Oyieke’s sentiments, youths had been sidelined in the development plan which was unfit for the development agenda, noting that through the youths most of diversified ideas will come on board.

He further called upon youths to identify with various groups in order to act in unison through lobby groups stating that it was very easy to assist youths when they were in a grouping instead of giving aid to individual.

“We want to encourage a sense of self belonging to the locals which can only be instilled when youths are indulged in various actions planned within the county government.

It is evident that youths are the leaders of tomorrow, they should learn to take the mantle prior to the actual time through association and representation” said Oyieke.

Oyieke further called upon transparency and public involvement in every undertaking within the region to show a sense of self belonging.

His counterpart Robert Okoth also encouraged transparency, accountability and association in the development plans.

According to Okoth, youths are so energetic and needed to be incorporated in every development agenda adding that they are the future tomorrow leaders who needed to exploit their leadership skills.

“Let’s be active in public activities, especially public forums and every forum that instills development.

We encourage the county government leadership to see that youths are incorporated in development agendas,” said Okoth.
