Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has called on the national government to increase funding to counties to enable them provide essential medical services to residents.
Speaking at Kiambu Level Four Hospital on Tuesday, Kabogo said that the current funding from the national government to counties is not enough to address the many challenges facing the health sector.
Governor Kabogo noted that delivery of health services will improve if there are adequate resources.
“We need the national government to increase its allocations to the counties so that we can improve on the services we offer to the people,” he said.
The governor said his government is keen to boost access to health care adding that plans to upgrade all public hospitals and health centres in the county are under way.
He also noted that plans to acquire modern machines that will be used to detect ailments like cancer are in top gear.
Governor Kabogo also said that his government will work with local and foreign investors to improve health services in the county.
