Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has challenged youth in the county to embrace farming so as to reduce unemployment.
The governor said unemployment among the youth in the county will reduce if they venture into farming.
Speaking at Ndumberi in Kiambu on Tuesday, Kabogo said farming remains a lucrative venture that youth should exploit.
He said his government has taken various initiatives aimed at encouraging youths to embrace farming.
“Young people across Kiambu should embrace farming if they want to get real money,” he said, adding that the county government will provide them the support they need.
Kabogo noted that the county has set aside Sh32 million to support farming ventures started by the youth in the county.
The governor further announced county plans to buy milk coolers for youth who are ready to venture into dairy farming.
He urged youth to use the Biashara funds being provided by the county to start farming ventures.
Kabogo said that the county’s food security will be guaranteed if youths embrace farming.
