Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, has called for unity among Ukambani leaders in a bid to effectively drive the party's agenda in preparation for the forthcoming 2017 polls.
Addressing members of the public at Mlolongo Town in Mavoko constituency on Friday, Kalonzo said the leaders should lead their electorates in advocating for peaceful coexistence among the communities and their neighbours.
"Leaders and residents from Ukambani communities need to be united in order to speak with one voice and achieve their aspirations politically and socio economically," said Musyoka.
Musyoka said it was high time all the political leaders who had either defected from the party or did not actively participate in its activities returned and showed their loyalties before the next polls to prevent them from being dismissed by the party's leadership.
"This is the time every wiper party leader in Ukambani needs to return to the party and desist from divisive politics," said Musyoka.
Musyoka who launched a massive campaign of national identification and voter registration cards in the region urged the political leaders to replicate the project by equally launching and supporting the initiative in their respective constituencies or wards.
He said it is a constitutional right for all Kenyans to hold the two documents arguing that nobody can benefit from government initiatives such as the available public funds which include youth, women and Uwezo funds without a national identification card.
Musyoka said it would be easier for the party to mobilise Ukambani residents, more so youth and women who do not have national identification cards to acquire them and register for voters if the leaders were united and pulled resources together.
Musyoka said that all those elected to various positions by the wiper party in 2013 should abide by its constitution and show their loyalties to its leadership.
Speaking at the same function, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, said there were only 9,000 registered voters in the constituency despite having a population of over 300,000 people legible to hold the document.
Musyoka was accompanied by Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mweke, his Machakos counterpart, David Kiala, Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar and Machakos Senetor Mutula Kilonzo Junior several MP's and MCA's.
Musyoka said that wiper was an equal partner among other political parties forming Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) coalition and therefore condemned intimidation of some of its deputy governors.
