Kibra MP Ken Okoth is known for championing education.
His campaign is well received and upheld by teachers, parents and students too.
During an interview with this writer, the area MP revealed why he loves education and why he cries for education to all Kibera children.
“Having been born and brought up in Kibera, I know what we need in life is education. People struggle with poverty that can be eradicated through education,” said Okoth on Friday.
The MP said he wants all children to be educated so that they can get more knowledge and apply it in solving problems affecting residents.
He, however, told the students to be ready to learn since school fees should not be a hindrance to their studies.
“School fees should not be a hindrance to a pupil from accessing education,” said Okoth.
He, however, revealed that they have partnered with Co-operative and Equity banks to help the students get sponsorships which will help them settle their secondary school and college fees.
Okoth urged all parents to take their children to school because it is only through education that one will be informed.
He said he will not stop advocating education because it is his dream to see other children live their dream.
