The leadership of Kisii county government has come under scathing attacks from Keumbu division residents on allegations that flow public information was being hindered by anonymous individuals.

Speaking on Tuesday at a burial ceremony in the region, speaker after speaker accused the county leadership of using internal memos to communicate matters pertaining recruitment of casuals and other county government jobs to the county government.

According to them, some individuals have taken advantage of internal memo to ensure they benefited from vital communication from the county government departments.

“As a matter of precedence, all communications must be made available to us whether at the sub county level or in the offices of the MCA. However, some individuals are personalizing the communication in a bid to benefit themselves,” said Walter Omwenga.

They asked county Governor James Ongwae to take a stern action against members of communication department by sacking those involved.

“This is a very vital issue and the Governor has to come out very clear. Some people are ruining his administration and time has come for him to unleash by suspending or even sacking people in the communication department,” added Elijah Nyamosi.

However, county communication officer Stella Ondimu denied the claims of incompetence but admitted that junior officers might be involved to hindering information flow.

“My office has always been ensuring that we communicate using both national tabloids, social media and even hand delivery to sub county level. Perhaps those supposed to pin the information at sub county headquarters are not doing their jobs and I will investigate the issue,” she said.
