Kikuyu Town ward MCA Binary Wainaina has called on the Kiambu leaders to lead by example by ensuring they create over hundred job vacancies every year.
The MCA said the jobs will greatly improve the economy of the county and as well reduce cases of crime and drug abuse in the area.
Wainaina who was speaking in Thogoto village in Kikuyu Ward during the ground breaking of the construction of a school on Tuesday, said that leaders in Kiambu should lead by example and create jobs that will act as a source of livelihood for the youths.
The MCA expressed his concerns with the increased number of criminal and drug abuse cases stating that Kiambu leaders are to blame for the unemployment cancer that is eating up the economy of the county.
"Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) pledged job creation and it all begins from the grass roots. The county government should assist the national government in achieving the manifesto set during their campaign periods," said Wainaina.
The law maker called on leaders not to politicise every development in the county and instead work hand in hand with the county and national governments in development, adding that the time for campaigning is still to come.
He said that the common mwananchi will need a recap after five years in the office and the major things they will audit is the creation of employment for the youths which majority of leaders promised during their campaign period.
“Members of the public who elected us in office will need a recap of development in the five years term we had in office and the major thing they will focus on is availability of employment you created for them,” said Wainaina.
