Kiambu County Trade and Industry CeC Dr. Samuel Otieno has dismissed rumours that the county government has embezzled funds meant for the construction of ‘modern’ kiosks.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in his office in Kiambu, Otieno said that the money meant for the project is still intact and the project has already started in various sub-counties.

“This is a county government project and there is no way funds allocated to it could be misappropriated," said Otieno.

Otieno added that the kiosks are meant to replace the roughly constructed kiosks in various urban centres in the county.

“Those flying the allegations need to raise the matter with the relevant investigative agencies. We will not be derailed from this noble project,” he added.

The CeC said that no one would be discriminated during allocation of the kiosks adding that it will go along way in promoting young business people in the county.

"The project is well planned and once we are through many more people will benefit from it in addition to the existing kiosk owners", he said.
