Kiambu County TNA co-ordinator Gladys Chania has asked Kiambu youths to exploit existing job opportunities in the fashion and beauty industry.
Speaking at Rainbow Resort, Ruiru on Saturday during the crowning of Mr and Miss Birmingham Kiambu County, Chania who is also an anti-drugs campaigner said youths especially those who are recovering alcoholics, need to acquire skills to enable them venture in the vast industry.
"The fashion and beauty industry is an industry which has endless opportunities yet we have very few people venturing into it. Less time and resources are required for instance for one to become a salonist. This is a perfect choice especially for those youths recovering from alcoholism and want to rebuild their lives," said Chania.
Chania has also encouraged men to venture in the industry saying it is no longer a preserve for women.
"The best fashionistas and beauticians nowadays are men. Men should therefore not sit back and say it is a women thing," she added.
The event was organised by Amo La Moda Kenya, an organisation that empowers youths to venture into the fashion and beauty industry.
