The Law Society of Kenya Chief Executive Officer Apollo Mboya has written to Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero seeking for an apology for calling him "a stupid boy."

The "stupid boy" statement made by Kidero while in Homa Bay County on Saturday was made in response to the goat offered by political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi to Mr Mboya as part of his apology for describing the Luo community as poor.

Mr Mboya says Governor Kidero insulted him in his utterances, an act that injures his reputation.

“You lowered my esteem among my family members, friends, professionals, colleagues and the public in general,” he said in the letter dated September 15 and signed by him.

In the letter also sent to newsrooms on Tuesday afternoon, Mr Mboya said after the expiry of three days without any apology, he will institute legal action against Governor Kidero.

He said he will move to court to recover his entitlements for the reputational injury and compel him to stop such utterances in future.

“I will also cite you for bringing the office of the Governor into disrepute contrary to the Leadership and Integrity as provided in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya,” he said.

Mr Mboya was recently given a goat by Mr Ngunyi.

The goat was offered as a 'gift' after Mr Ngunyi apologised to the Luo community after describing them as poor.

The act drew a backlash in the social media as many people especially from Nyanza accused Mr Mboya of belittling the Luo community by accepting a 'gift' of one goat.

A video is currently circulating online showing Governor Kidero addressing residents on Homa Bay on Saturday.

Luo Council of Elders Chairman Willis Opiyo Otondi had rejected the offer terming it a bad omen for the Luo community.
