Gatundu North sub-county MP plans to build two more dispensaries in the remote parts of the constituency in a bid to reduce the distance travelled by patients to seek health services.

Speaking to journalist after issuing medicine to Igegania sub-county hospital on Thursday, the area member of parliament Francis Kigo Njenga expressed his concerns over the distance travelled by weak patients in search of medication.

The MP revealed that the two dispensaries, which will be built at Gatunguru and Muchakai would each accommodate three nurses.

"I have heard the cry of many patients who travel for long distances looking for medical treatment. My office has plans to extend a hand to these patients by building two more dispensaries in the remote areas of this sub-county," said Kigo.

He added: "The dispensaries will have three nurses and casual workers all who are expected to provide quality services to the patients."

Kigo noted that his constituency has only 27 dispensaries, two health centers and one district hospital which serve more than 27,000 patients.

He however, urged the county government to join hands with the national government to ensure all residents in the area have access to healthcare.

Igegania sub-county hospital received medicine worth Sh500,000.
