Naivasha MP John Kihagi has vowed to flush out illegal brewers and drug traffickers from the constituency.
Speaking after leading a crackdown on illicit brewers in Naivasha town on Friday, Kihagi said he will fight illicit brewing and ensure that his constituency is safe from the brews.
The MP said that youths in Naivasha Constituency have been lost in drinking. Kihagi said that he is working with local administrators to fight the brew menace.
MP Kihagi also warned prominent businessmen whom he accused of controlling and aiding sale of illegal alcoholic drinks to stop the activity immediately.
Kihagi asked the public to help the local chiefs fight brew menace. “The members of the public should work with chiefs and their assistants by giving information on the whereabouts of brewers,” said MP Kihagi.
The MP on Friday led a crackdown on illegal brewers where thousands liters of illegal brew was destroyed.
Kihagi said that the crackdown will continue this weekend.
Meanwhile, Nakuru County Commissioner Mohammed Birik has asked the area Police to intensify the fight against brewers.
In a meeting attended by several MPs on Friday at a local hotel in Nakuru town, Birik said that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive on illicit brews will be immediately implemented.
He said major operations have been lined up this weekend to get rid of illicit brews.
