Motorists in Kikuyu have today been cautioned against over-speeding especially during the rainy season as it can cause accidents for example due to slippery roads.
A police traffic crackdown was conducted on Tuesday that saw 6 motorists arrested for over-speeding along the Kikuyu-Nairobi route. In relation to this, the Kikuyu traffic base Commander Inspector Elizabeth Wakuloba said that cases of vehicles causing accidents were usually high in the area during rainy seasons in the past.
She said that this morning, among the 6 motorists arrested, 2 were heavy commercial drivers who were over-speeding hence posing a major threat to other road users. Wakuloba also stated that during the rainy seasons, the mist and fog on the roads cause a lot of accidents hence drivers should be careful. She therefore advised drivers to use headlights when they are experienced especially in order to avoid accidents.
She also said that traffic crackdowns will be conducted during the entire season to ensure that accidents are not experienced and traffic rules are observed.
