Kikuyu residents in Kiambu County have been cautioned that they will continue suffering from common diseases if they do not maintain good hygiene in their homes.
Speaking to press in her office on Wednesday, Mrs Rose Muiruri, the Sub-County Public Health Officer, said many of the diseases reported within her region were as a result of not observing good hygiene.
She said that most people, especially children were reporting to local health facilities with cases of common diseases brought about by lack of proper hygiene.
“These diseases are minor but can be fatal if not treated early enough,” Muriuri said.
She noted that most of the diseases that affect children are as a result ignorance by parents to maintain good hygiene.
Muiruri cited typhoid, amoeba and cholera as some of the common diseases that are treated lightly by patients but sometimes lead to deaths.
She further urged the residents to observe personal hygiene to avoid common diseases
