Kinoo Member of County Assembly Mr.Evanson Kanithi Kinuthia vowed to cater to the needs of all orphans within his ward on Wednesday. This was in a ward forum at the CDF grounds where members of the public aired their views concerning their needs.
Addressing the residents, he said that it was disappointing that some orphans had ended up being street children. He said that they shouldn't be neglected by the community as it discourages them. He also added that all orphans within his ward should be brought forward from Thursday to his office where they will be registered and catered for. He vowed to educate them, feed and also clothe them.
Mr.Kinithi noted that relatives of those children were setting a bad example by neglecting them even though they belong to their extended family. He also called on members of the public to be part of this campaign to ensure orphans get basic needs by donating what they can in his office.
"This are our children and as a community we should live as a family. As your MCA I will lead the campaign to cater for these children and I expect to set an example for all residents to emulate," said Kinithi.
He however cautioned parents who take advantage of such privileges that serious action will be taken against them.
