Nakuru County Governor, Kinuthia Mbugua has called upon the national government to hasten the process of resettling the post-election violence (PEV) victims.
Kinuthia noted that a number of post election violence victims are languishing in IDPs camps despite the government's effort in resettling them.
“Seven years down the line, we still have Internally Displaced Persons living in camps," said Kinuthia.
He however thanked the national government for its effort in resettling the remnants of the PEV victims.
“The government has responded well in the process of resettling IDPs but still there is more to be done “, said Kinuthia .
Kinuthia also called for compensation of integrated IDPs who have not received their dues .
“A number of IDPs are living with their relatives and the government should think them when compensating other IDPs," said Kinuthia.
Speaking on Friday at Karuga Trading Center, Solai Ward, Nakuru County during a fundraiser for the Karuga IDPs to purchase a land, Kinuthia urged the IDPs to utilize the money properly as they wait for the government to address their grievances .
Solai MCA, Paul Kibet Chebor urged the IDPs to be patient as the government sought out the resettlement issue .
The fundraiser is the third to be held under the governor .The previous fundraisers held in two tranches had been successful after the IDPs expressed optimism by the governor to help them
