Police in Kisii are pursuing a group of armed robbers who allegedly stormed into a petrol station and robbed the owner thousands of shillings before fleeing in a saloon car.

Mr Abdi Noor, the owner of the petrol station sustained serious gun injuries and was being treated at the Aga Khan hospital in Kisii.

According to OCPD Solomon Kiragu, the gangsters are part of the group that has been targeting business people in the town and its surrounding.

“I want to confirm that we are pursuing the robbers and it won't take long before we catch up with them. They have been making the lives of the residents hell and i know they are hiding somewhere around. As the police, we are doing our part and hopefully the results will be out soon,” he said.

Mr Kiragu urged residents to be vigilant by working with officers to combat such incidents that were impacting negatively on the livelihoods of the people in the South Nyanza town.

“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we work together as a team to combat these incidents. The police alone cannot be able to fulfill the obligation and that is why people must work with us,” he said.

Kiragu called upon business people to install CCTV cameras in their area to make it easy for the police to do a follow up.
