According to an official report from Peace Initiative Kenya, an non governmental organisation most of court-bound cases involving married individuals face many challenges in their efforts to seek justice.
Speaking on Saturday on a function in Nyaribare Chache constituency in Kisii County, Mokaya appealed to local leaders especially chiefs and their assistants to join hand ensuring domestic violence related cases are taken through the proper legal channels and be served with the outright prosecution process it deserves.
He further urged the affected parties to always report the matter to local based human rights organizations and other gender violence related initiatives who can facilitate the process of seeking justice in case they have been unable breakthrough in filing a suit against the perceived culprit.
"Most affected people are women and their efforts in seeking justice in the responsible authority are always thwarted by the local administration since most cases are family issues hence end up settled locally as the effected party remains unsettled" said the officer.
Mokaya however appreciated the good work displayed with other groups in ensuring the cases of violence is numerically brought low in the graph ranking since some parts of Kisii county have been cited being on the top in their statistical listing.
