Various women and youth groups from Bomachoge Chache in the county of Kisii have received money from the Uwezo Fund kitty that they will use in starting up businesses.
Speaking at Tendere grounds in Ogembo when he gave out Sh8.1 million to the groups, area MP, Simon Ogari said that research conducted by his Uwezo fund officers shows that most people fear borrowing money something he said makes just a few self help groups to send applications for the Uwezo funds.
He said that most people fear losing households for being defectors something that makes some borrow the money and keep it as they return it without the money helping them.
“I want to tell you today that all these people you see that are rich and driving big cars including me all the money we use is from loans. And again this is a loan from the government it has no strict rules as those from banks,” he said.
Tendere ward representative, Shem Ondara who was also present called on the youth to form many more groups to be given loans like the women who have shown their interest in getting the loans and starting up businesses.
“My ward has many women who operate businesses than the youth and I want ask the youth to wake up and do what they should do,” he said.
