"The Assembly has nominated chief whip Isaiah Onyango to be put in the 9 member committee and that the names will be read this Wednesday afternoon," said Omondi.
The Speaker advised that the committee be gender sensitive and follow the two thirds rule when nominating the members.
The motion to establish a select committee to investigate Bodaboda industry was tabled by Ahero MCA Maurice Aloo and seconded by East Kano/Wawidhi MCA Moses Ochele on Tuesday afternoon.
Nominated MCA Caroline Ogot who supported the motion said that the Bodaboda industry needs to be regulated adding that many people are victims of Bodaboda accidents.
"The industry has its strengths and weaknesses. It is a source of employment to many youths but it is associated with negative elements such rape and robbery," said Ogot.
Seme East MCA Aggrey Ogossi said that Bodaboda needs to be registered, have particular uniform and be taxed.
"My Speaker in other counties, Bodaboda riders pay taxes. It is only in Kisumu County where Bodaboda industry doesn't pay taxes. In Vihiga County, the industry pays tax, that's why some of the riders come as far as Vihiga to operate in Kisumu," claimed MCA Ogossi.
