Kisumu residents have renewed calls to the county government to improve security in the town.
They claim criminal gangs which terrorised them for close to two months were back in the town.
The residents said a recent meeting between leaders from selected organisations in Kisumu resolved that the county government would speed up efforts towards improving security in Kenya's third largest town.
Kisumu City Residents Voice chairman Audi Ogada told Hivisasa.com in Kisumu on Wednesday that the security situation in the town had not improved and called on relevant authorities to intervene and secure the residents.
About a month ago, the residents demonstrated in the town to pressure the county government and the police to contain the run-away insecurity in the lakeside town.
Mr Ogada said unless the security situation improves, the organisations involved would hold another demonstration.
“We will soon meet with members of the committee selected during the meeting to draft the letters and send them to the respective organisations alerting them on another demonstration," Mr Ogada said.
About two weeks ago, residents of Kisumu help peaceful demonstrations in the town protesting the deteriorating security situation in the town.
The residents said authorities in the town had not done much to fight rising crime.
