Kisumu residents are set to benefit from modern ambulance referral system courtesy of a partnership program between the county government and the Red Cross.
Speaking in an interview, Kisumu Health CEC Dr. Elizabeth Ogaja said that the project will include sophisticated ambulances which will improve service delivery.
“The ambulances will resemble the ambulances in Europe. We will have a number that the citizen can easily remember to call to get ambulance services,” said Dr Ogaja.
Dr Ogaja said that the county plans to add 8 fleet of modernised ambulances to assist in the health services delivery.
“We shall be stationing ambulances in convenient places for each of the Sub-Counties. Sometimes we have three emergencies at the same time so we have to provide more ambulances,” she said.
Kisumu county is one of the counties that has benefited from Beyond Zero campaign which was launched by the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
