Kenya National Union of Teacher (Knut) has asked the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) to cancel the ongoing national examinations for secondary schools and set exams afresh.

Speaking during the Nyanza Region Annual General meeting in Kisumu on Tuesday, Knut national treasurer John Matiangi said that exams have over leaked and the officials at Knec should set emergency exam in the month of December.

“It’s good that the CEO of Knec accepted that exams have leaked but it very pathetic when we heard him accepting and saying that every exam must leak,” Matiangi said.

He said that all Kenyans including teachers have seen copies of authentic exam papers flying left centre right on social media.

“If you go the market, cyber café and photocopies you will find Kenya National Examination Council original exams being photocopied and sold,” said Matiangi.

He said previous students have been going on strike for fear of mock exams citing there are no leakages in mock exams.

“Students cannot go on strike on Knec exams because they know they will get leakages. These exams have lost credibility, the international community will doubt the certificates of this country,” said Knut national treasurer.

He said the Knec should accept that the exams have been leaking and they should set another exam.
