The Kenya National Union of Teachers Gatundu North branch has cautioned school heads against signing roll-calls as directed by the Teachers Service Commission.

Addressing teachers in Gatundu on Wednesday, branch chairman Patrick Maingi told school heads not to collect TSC circulars from county directors of education as instructed by TSC.

Mr Maingi who was accompanied by the Assistant Executive Secretary Bernice Kawira and Treasurer Ann Wangechi said teachers will not relent on their quest to get a higher pay.

"Teachers are demonstrating to demand for the increase of their salary awarded to them by the Supreme Court," said Mr Maingi.

"TSC is in contempt of court by delaying our salary increase."

TSC on Monday instructed teachers to return to work claiming the strike they staged was illegal.

Teachers, however, have vowed to stay at home as long as the government does not award them the recent salary increment they received from the Court of Appeal.

"Teachers from this region will get directives from the union officials and not TSC and they will not back up because of the threats," said Kawira.
