Roadworks run by the Uasin Gishu County Government have come to a standstill due to lack of fuel.
Most of the vehicles and road construction machines are now packed waiting for fuel to continue with several projects that have stalled.
Speaking to Journalists in Eldoret town the CeC for roads and public works Gideon Birir has said that all the road construction work that was meant to start in September has been delayed due to lack of fuel for the machines to conduct the required duties.
“The delayed release of money from the National Treasury is the main cause of us lacking fuel. This has paralysed all works at the ministry since nothing can be done without us fueling our machines. Progress rate is highly affected since no single project is running” he said.
He urged the government to fast-track the process to ensure that the funds are released promptly for projects that have stalled and those that are yet to be started to be completed as scheduled.
