Lower Eastern TNA party leaders on Wednesday demanded that the Machakos Senator, Johnston Muthama, apologises to the presidency over his controversial remarks on Wednesday last week.
Led by the group's chairman, Captain Stephen Kiema, the leaders said the words used by the senator during a CORD coalition's rally at the Nairobi's Uhuru Park were portraying the president in bad light.
"Muthama's speech committed several dangerous mistakes which paints the people from Lower Eastern Region in bad light as they are now seen as if they do not respect the presidency," said Kiema.
The leaders who included representatives of the party from Machakos, Kitua and Makueni counties condemned the utterances and behaviour of the senator whom they said had angered several citizens of the republic of Kenya.
"Anybody who is a president even if you did not vote for him is the president of every Kenyan hence deserves maximum respect by all, showing disrespect to other persons and the presidency is shameful," said Kiema.
The leaders made the remarks during a press briefing at Cottage Hotel in Machakos town.
