Machakos Women Representative, Susan Musyoka, has called on women from the region to report cases of gender based violence so as to ensure their rights are protected.
Addressing residents in Athi River on Wednesday, Musyoka said cases of gender based violence had increased in the area though majority of the women kept silent about it.
"I call on all women from Machakos County to report any kind of gender based violence so as to handle the issues and discipline the culprits," said Musyoka.
According to Musyoka, most women from the region have suffered for long and still continue to suffer in the hands of women batterers because the victims remain silent.
Musyoka said as a women leader, she cannot sit and watch as women continue to suffer in hands of men who do not know that women equally have constitutional rights hence have to be protected.
"Enough is enough and I can not wait any more as a leader who directly represent rights of women in the entire county. Let women who have been battered come out so that they get justice," said Musyoka.
Musyoka warned culprits of gender based violence stating that their days are numbered if they do not seize violating rights of women.
