A father of three was on Tuesday morning charged with beating up his wife and children after a disagreement over food.

Peterson Omollo, denied the charges before principle magistrate Thomas Obutu for the offence allegedly committed on September 26.

The court heard that Omollo arrived at home on the fateful day at 11pm from a drinking spree. Omollo, who resides in Nyawitta area of Kisumu, is alleged to have demanded for food but there was none, as his wife Monica Kibisu had consumed it together with the two children.

It is alleged that, the accused has the behaviour of coming home drunk and demanding for food which he had not bought. The wife was punishing her on this particular day.

However on revelation that there was no food left for him, Omollo started beating up his wife together with the children. They are said to have sustained injuries.

Omollo is said to have kicked his family out into the cold, where they were taken in by a neighbour.

The matter was reported to the police the following morning, where Omollo was arrested.

The accused was released on a cash bail of Sh10,000 pending the hearing on January 13, 2016.
