A man was Tuesday morning arraigned before a Nakuru court and charged with stealing a sheep.
Bedan Mwangi Kamau was accused of stealing one sheep valued at Sh12,000 belonging to John Kariuki Thuo. The court heard that on October 5 at Dundori centre, the accused allegedly untied the said sheep from the complainant's compound and made away with it.
Kamau separately faced another count of handling stolen property.
The court was told that on the said dates and other than in the cause of stealing, the accused dishonestly retained a sheep, the property of the said complainant knowing or having reasons to believe that it was stolen or unlawfully obtained. He however pleaded not guilty to both counts and was released by Chief Magistrate Joel Ng’eno with bond of Sh120,000 awaiting the mention of the matter on October 15.
In the same court, a man was charged with theft of timber from his employer. Joel Okinda Baruthi was charged before chief magistrate Joel Ngeno.
The court heard that on diverse dates between September 18 and October 3, Okinda jointly with others not before the court, stole 15 tonnes of cypress tree logs all valued at Sh500,000 from Transafric Timber Limited in Nakuru the property of Zakayo Maina Waweru.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the offense and was released on a bond of Sh200,000 pending hearing of the matter on November 13.
