A man who faked that he had been attacked by robbers and violently robbed of a motor cycle was Thursday arraigned before a Kiambu court charged with perjury. The accused, James Orinda, appeared before the Principal Magistrate Diana Mochache charged that on June 22 this year, he lied to the police that he had been attacked by armed robbers near Kiambu bus station who stole from him a motor cycle and a mobile phone all valued at Sh 100, 000.
Giving evidence in court, investigating officer Michael Mwangi told the court that he got suspicious about the validity of the accused person’s report after he followed up on his mobile conversations and realized that he had been in constant communications with the persons he was accusing of attacking him.
All leads indicated that he had colluded with the persons ‘accused’ of having robbed from him and he also had no physical injuries as earlier reported at the local police station. Prosecuting Chief Inspector Richard Makenzi told the court that the accused person had wasted a lot of police time who embarked on wild goose chase and therefore stern action should be taken against him to serve as a lesson to any other person who has no respect for the court.
He was released on a cash bond of Sh 80, 000 and was set to appear before the same court on August 3, 2015 for the hearing of his case.
