A 27-year-old man was on Tuesday arraigned before the High Court in Nakuru for allegedly defiling his daughter and killing her.
Lady Justice Maureen Odero ordered Patrick Gathure to be taken for psychiatric examination and remanded at the Bondeni police station for the three days.
Gathure is accused of killing his four-year-old child on July 26 at Rhonda estate in Nakuru Township.
According to the prosecution, the deceased who is a minor was playing with other children at their house when her father Gathure arrived from his place of work and called her and took her to an unknown place.
Later that night, when the mother, Bridgette Wanjiru came back from work found her missing. Wanjiru together with her husband went in search of her for several hours.
During the midnight, the body was found dead behind their rental house within the plot, with injuries on the forehead and cheeks, and later it was determined she had been defiled.
The father was arrested since he would not give an account of the whereabouts of his child. He was escorted to Nakuru Province General Hospital for medical examination and he was found to be the one who defiled the deceased.
State prosecutor Nelly Ngovi requested the court to be remand the accused at Bondeni police station to allow completion of investigations.
The case will be mentioned July 31 for the psychiatric report and plea taken on September 12.
