A man was on Monday arraigned at a Nakuru court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle that he had hired.
Zacharia Kamau is accused of stealing a motorcycle valued at Sh79,000 belonging to Martin Mutinda on August 19, at Nakuru Teachers’ Estate.
According to the prosecution, Kamau hired the motorcycle from the owner but he had disappeared and failed to bring it back.
Kamau told the court that he hired the motorbike but it was stolen at his homestead when he was away at work.
"I hired the motorbike from Mutinda and it was stolen at my homestead, I have two children who depend on me," he said
He begged the court to grant him a reasonable bail amount citing his poor financial situation and his desire to continue supporting his children.
Appearing before Principle Magistrate Bernard Ndenda, Kipkorir pleaded not guilty and he was given a surety bond of Sh70,000.
The case will be heard on October 1.
