A man has been arraigned before a Nakuru court for allegedly giving false information to an officer about an alleged assault by an MP.

Richard Moseti was accused of giving false information to police constable Simon Ndegwa that he had been assaulted by MP Samuel Arama, on July 24, 2015 at Kaptembwa police station.

It is alleged that Moseti had reported to Mr Ndegewa that Mr Arama had assaulted him and beat him up, resulting in the loss of his tooth, the information that is said to have been false and which would have resulted the police officer arresting the lawmaker.

Arama, the complainant in the case, recorded a statement at Kaptembwa police station and Moseti was arrested on September 22, 2015 and charged.

Moseti’s lawyer, David Monger, pleaded with the court to grant reasonable bond and alternative cash bail pending the hearing of the case.

Appearing before senior principal magistrate Liz Gicheha, he pleaded not guilty and was released on a surety bond of Sh20,000 with an alternative cash bail of Sh10,000.

The case will be heard on October 27, 2015.
