A man was jailed for three years by a Machakos court on Wednesday after he was found guilty of causing permanent disfigurement to his father.
The accused, Martin Kisaulu was found guilty of permanently disfiguring the left hand of Jameson Mbuvi, his father.
Senior Resident Magistrate Catherine Obara said that she arrived at her ruling after hearing from all witnesses who were presented by the prosecution.
The father of the accused told the court that since he lost three of his fingers he has been unable to resume working on his farm.
The court heard that the accused wanted to sell his father’s land and when his father confronted him, the son chased him away wielding a panga.
Mbuvi told the court that the accused overpowered him and as he tried to cut him, he blocked the panga on the sharp edge and his three fingers were chopped off.
The accused was jailed for three years accompanied with hard labour.
Witnesses who testified before the court said the accused was hot tempered and a feared person in the village.
