A middle-aged man was on Thursday charged in a Machakos law court for allegedly being in possession of intrigue copies alleged to be for private and domestic use of copyright work.
The accused, Salestino Kiriungi, appeared before resident magistrate Ngare Gesora to answer the charges of possessing the copyrights of the VCDs which he pleaded not guilty.
The court heard that September 8, 2015 the accused was found at Sweet Water Bar in Kaanwa Market in Masinga sub-county possessing two intrigued copies of VCD that were identified to belong to one David Gitahi who owns the bar.
The accused was found being in possession of pornographic films which he was using in the name of entertaining the customers who attended the bar, the court further heard.
In mitigation, the accused said that as an employee his vocation was only serving and entertaining the customers and had no means to acquire the copyrights.
The accused maintained that he was not guilty of the offence.
He was charged a fine of Sh15, 500 or to serve six months in jail.
