A man was jailed for a year by a Nakuru court after he pleaded guilty to breaking into his father’s house and stealing household property.
Paul Njenga broke into John Wachira’s house on June, 14 in Kaptembwa Estate in Nakuru and stole 50kg of nails, one Sony dvd, a camera and a school bag all valued at Sh35,000.
Nakuru Chief Magistrate Joel Ngeno, however, gave him the option of paying a Sh20,000 fine.
Police said Wachira had locked his house and went to church. When he came back, he found his door broken and the properties missing.
Wachira investigated and closely tracked his son whom he suspected.
He reported the matter to Kaptembwa Police Station and Njenga was arrested on July 14.
Njenga begged the court of forgiveness saying that his father didn’t want to forgive him.
“I pray that the court forgives me. I talked with my father and he said that I have disturbed him so he reported me,” he said.
