Police in Nakuru Town are holding a man suspected to be conning Nakuru residents .

Elkan Kiiru, 43, was arrested on Monday in Nakuru Town after a woman accused him of allegedly conning her informed police officers.

The arrest of the suspect comes in then wake of protest by Nakuru residents over rising cases of fraud.

Confirming the incident, Nakuru OCPD Bernard Kioko said that the suspect had being put on the list of the most wanted criminals following claims of fraudulent activities .

“Yesterday we arrested a suspect who has been on our list and he is in police custody," Kioko.

Kioko said that they received information from a woman who said that she was conned over Sh90 ,000 by the suspect after spotting him strolling in the town .

The OCPD said that they have launched investigations into the matter and urged more members of public to come forward to register their claims .

“We expect more allegations on the suspect and members of public should forward their claims," said Kioko.

Kioko urged residents to be more vigilant when transacting deals with unsuspecting people.

He said that the suspect will be arraigned in court once investigations are through .

Subukia MCA Njoroge Mwenje disowned the 'MCA' saying that he does not represent the will of electorate .

“ The imposer is neither an elected nor nominated MCA," said Mwenje.
