A man was rushed to Kaplong Mission Hospital over the weekend after he was shot with an arrow when he attempted to track cattle rustlers.
The man who was in the company of two others were on a motorcycle tracking four animals that were stolen at a homestead on the border at Sotik in Borabu, Nyamira County.
Confirming the incident, Borabu OCPD Antony Onyango said the injured identified as Mr Sebastian Ooga was shot with an arrow by the rustlers at Saruchat Market in Sotik.
Onyango who was speaking to journalists said during the pursuit, the motorcycle the three were using was burnt and Ooga was rushed to the mission hospital for treatment.
“One of the people tracking the stolen animals was shot with an arrow but he has been operated on and the arrow has been removed.”
The OCPD said they were informed about the theft and they traced the cattle rustlers who managed to escape leaving behind the stolen cattle.
“The cattle thieves fled when they realised they were being pursued by security officers leaving behind the animals,” he added.
The OCPD said they have launched investigations into the matter and they will soon arrest those involved in cattle theft in the county.
