Uasin Gishu County top leadership has welcomed Raila Odinga's move of accepting to be a witness of Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Arap Sang in the cases that they face at the International Criminal Court at the Hague.
Led by Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago and Majority leader Josephat Lowoi, who were speaking at the county headquarters on Tuesday, the leaders termed the move as orderly, adding that it may play a crucial role in the release of the deputy president and the journalist, whom, according to them are innocent.
"We welcome the move by Cord leader Raila Odinga to present himself at the Hague to be a witness against the cases facing Joshua sang and William Ruto since at the time of post election Violence, Ruto was supporting Odinga to be the president, and he is the one who knows what happened at the moment," said Mandago.
They urged him to act fast and present himself, since at the time he was the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement, and his defense might save Ruto and Sang from being jailed.
"If Raila is a real nationalist and believes in the rule of law, he should present himself and tell the International Criminal Court what happened, the cause of the post election violence and if Ruto was involved or not, and we urge him not to give us conditions but present himself in good faith," they added.
