Couples in Kiambaa Constituency have been urged to live exemplary marriage lives worth to be emulated by the unmarried youths in the area.

Addressing couples who had attended a family’s fellowship meeting at Ndenderu shopping centre on Sunday, Mr Kamau Wanyambura, a spiritual motivational speaker from Kajiado, said many youths fear to make a commitment in marriage because many married couples exhibit marriage as a lifetime prison that one commits to and there is nothing in it to be proud about.

He said comments of regrets, suffering, intimidation, oppression, by married couples in the presence of youths are making many youth shy away from getting married yet marriage was instituted by God.

Kamau noted that improper ways of solving cases of unrest brought about by misunderstanding amongst family members are making many youths opt to stay single or engage in unacceptable unions like homosexuality.

He urged couples to lead an exemplary life and talk to youth about the importance of marriage in their lives because they are likely to live a more realistic life when married than when they are not.

The speaker said marriage has its share of challenges but the way couples handle them tell a lot about how mature they are in their relationship.

“If couples are not contented with their socio-economic status and continue to work hard to improve it by day, they cannot be a living example to our youths who are contemplating over marriage. They are instead sending wrong signals that for one to be happy in marriage they must be rich,” said Kamau.

He advised couples to tell the truth about marriage and live by that truth so that it guides those who are about to marry in making informed decisions before they regret it for the rest of their life.

Kamau said marriage is not a one day’s event like Valentine’s Day, adding that couples have a responsibility to ensure that they make it very enjoyable, practical and one that transforms as long as life lasts for it to be worth emulating by youth who look up to them.
