Several schools in Mavoko Sub-County have received infrastructure facelifts, courtesy of the Constituency Development Fund.
According to the sub-county’ deputy quality assurance officer, James Kitonyi, the fund should not be taken away from members of Parliament.
"We as educationists commend the Mavoko Constituency Development Fund for doing a splendid job as compared to other constituencies around. Our schools have received facelifts hence the need to retain it,” said Kitonyi.
Kitonyi who addressed press in his office on Wednesday, said most of the schools in Mavoko were in pathetic condition before the establishment of the fund.
He said the situation has changed stating almost all the schools within the constituency have modern structures that had been constructed by the fund.
The officer said the facilities include classrooms, pit latrines, laboratories, dormitories and dining halls.
"We are proud of the constituency development office given that there is no single project it had implemented without engaging parents, teachers and children as demanded by the constitution," added Kitonyi.
He noted that the upgrading of infrastructure had equally led to improved academic results since the students now have conducive environments to undertake their studies.
He urged parents, children and other residents to be on the lookout so as to protect the schools from destruction by either protesting students or goons as witnessed in various regions of the county and country as a whole.
